iPhone Plus rental—What Does "Plus" Mean?
For quite some time now, Apple has been offering not just a single version of its popular smartphones, but entire product families within a single generation. Starting with the iPhone 4, additional models from the same generation were introduced to the market—in this case, the iPhone 4s. These models usually differ from the base models of their respective generations through hardware and software optimizations, new and additional features, or improved performance in terms of the camera, battery, and display, which have grown in size. The Plus models are designed for so-called power users who expect optimal performance from their Apple iPhone and want to take full advantage of the features it offers. However, with the release of the iPhone 14, the meaning of “Plus” has changed somewhat compared to previous Plus models, as explained in the following paragraphs:
Features of the iPhone Plus Models
With the Plus models, you as a user get a comprehensive package of improvements over the base model. As a result, the iPhone Plus not only offers a larger screen, but also a higher display resolution, better image stabilization in the camera, and a larger battery. The newer Plus models even include a second camera in addition to a larger display and battery.
New Design Starting with the iPhone 14 Plus
With the release of the iPhone 14 Plus, Apple has once again slightly altered the meaning of the "Plus" product designation. Starting with the iPhone 11, the well-known improvements in features, functionality, and performance were no longer marketed as "Plus" models, but rather as "Pro" and "Pro Max" models. Consequently, no new “iPhone Plus” model had been released since the iPhone 8 Plus. This was no longer necessary due to the new Pro models—which offer better performance and more features—as well as the Pro Max models, which provide even better performance, more features , and a larger display. However, one user group was left out: namely, those customers who wanted a larger display but could do without a better processor, a better camera, a special design, or new display technologies, etc. It is precisely for this target group that Apple has reintroduced the Plus model. The iPhone 14 Plus is simply larger than the standard iPhone 14 and, due to the increased battery consumption caused by the larger display, has also been equipped with a more powerful battery—everything else is exactly the same as the standard iPhone 14. Future Plus models will therefore not feature better cameras, faster processors, or other such upgrades. These features remain exclusive to the Pro and Pro Max models.
