More features with latest Oculus Quest 2 updates – 120 Hz, Air Link and Media Syncing

Since the release of the Quest 2 from Oculus, software updates for the device have been released continuously. Up until the latest firmware update, many new software functions as well as various hardware functions for the VR goggles that were not yet available at the time of the Quest 2’s release were unlocked and added. All VR glasses that you can rent from us naturally always have the latest software versions installed. This means that you can always benefit from the latest functions.

The most significant update – incredibly smooth VR use through subsequent 120 Hz activation

The Hz of the Oculus VR glasses provide information about the refresh rate of the two displays in the Quest 2. The individual numbers indicate how many times per second the display can show a new image. This is measured in Hertz (Hz). The higher the Hz of a device, the smoother the content appears on it. Until now, people were used to Hertz values of 72 Hz or 90 Hz from the Quest models. These Hertz numbers already allow for a very fluid and enjoyable VR experience.

But the step from 90 to 120 Hz raises the immersion and the fun factor to a completely different level. In order to use the function on the Quest 2, a small change is required in the settings under “Experimental features”. All apps that are optimized by the developers for use at 120 Hz can then also be run directly on the glasses at 120 Hz. Nice “side effect”: When streaming from a PC to the Quest 2, the 120 Hz is supported and activated by default. Enjoy high image quality now and rent an Oculus Quest 2.

More convenient use for PC VR players – streaming of PC VR games now possible wirelessly with Air Link

Streaming PC VR content and games was already one of the most popular features among VR enthusiasts when the Quest 2 was released. There is a simple reason why the function is so highly regarded: PC VR streaming combines the best of both worlds. Of course, the graphics of PC VR titles cannot be compared with the graphics of games played internally on standalone VR glasses without a PC, which have to make do with an integrated processor and graphics chip, due to the higher performance capabilities of a PC.

Wireless VR glasses have the great advantage of freedom of movement. If you rent an Oculus Quest 2, you can enjoy the maximum graphics of a PC VR game on a completely wireless VR headset by streaming PC VR games. However, this is only possible since the Air Link update. Previously, the Oculus Link cable had to be used for this. Since update 28.0, however, this is no longer necessary.

Next-gen virtual reality enjoyment without a computer – rent the new Oculus Quest 2 now

Just like its predecessor, the Oculus Quest 2 has a decisive advantage over its competitors: Completely wireless use without the need for additional hardware. This is different for models such as the HTC Vive, Oculus Rift and the like. The Oculus Quest 2 gets its power from the integrated battery with 2-3 hours of battery life and runs on its own operating system. The hardware required for this is located in the housing of the glasses. With the two ergonomic Oculus Quest 2 Touch Controllers, your hands are projected into the VR and you can also move freely in the virtual world in three dimensions. If you need large quantities, that’s no problem at all.

More power thanks to new chip and more RAM

The first major innovation in the Oculus Quest 2 is a new processor or chip. A Snapdragon™ XR2 platform chipset from Qualcomm® was installed, which offers more than twice the performance of the Snapdragon chip in the first Quest. The XR2 chip therefore enables up to 2x better CPU and GPU performance, 4x better pixel throughput for videos, 6x better native resolution of the display per eye and 11x better AI performance. The high resolution and the high refresh rate of 90 Hz are only made possible by the performance of the processors.

In addition, more graphically complex games and apps can be enjoyed and the use of the VR glasses in general is smoother and performs better. The RAM / working memory capacity has also been increased from 4 GB to 6 GB. The storage capacities with which you can rent the Oculus Quest 2 are 64 GB and 256 GB. So there is enough space for every content.

Improved displays with higher resolution

The second major improvement over its predecessors: advanced new displays. The Oculus Quest 2 has 2 LCD displays (Liquid Crystal Display) with 1832 x 1920 pixels each. This means that if you rent the new Oculus Quest 2, you can enjoy a good 50% more pixels than the previous model! This makes for an even sharper and more realistic VR experience when gaming. In addition, the LC displays have a full RGB subpixel matrix with three instead of two subpixels per normal pixel.

This again ensures an even sharper image and reduces the problematic fly screen effect that was very present in the first Oculus Quest. Thus, with the Oculus Quest 2, there is almost no fly screen effect in the image, which contributes to an even higher immersion. To round off the visual experience and make the VR headset suitable for use at VR events and trade fairs, the Oculus Quest 2 now also supports a refresh rate of 90 Hz instead of the conventional 72 Hz. In addition, you can also choose between 60 Hz and 72 Hz.

New accessories for optimal headset comfort

Although the first Oculus Quest was already extremely comfortable, if you rent the Oculus Quest 2, you will notice a difference in wearing comfort. The new Oculus Quest 2 weighs only 503 grams and is therefore 10% lighter than its predecessor. The head straps are made of elastic fabric and no longer rubber. The temples are made of robust plastic, in which the integrated speakers are located. They now sit closer to the ear and provide excellent 3D surround sound through Positional Audio. They now sit closer to the ear and provide excellent 3D surround sound through Positional Audio.

To maximize comfort, Oculus also offers the option of ordering the Quest 2 Elite strap exclusively for the Oculus Quest 2, which further increases the comfort and fit of the VR glasses on the head. The Quest 2 Elite strap also has an adjustment wheel that makes it easier to adjust the balance and fit of the VR headset. If you want the absolute professional package, you can also order the Quest 2 Elite strap with battery and carrying bag to enjoy even more usage time and ergonomics thanks to the integrated battery. The ergonomics of the Quest 2 Touch controllers have also been improved with the addition of a thumb rest on each controller for stability.

Rent Oculus Quest 2 – you can expect these special features

Another big plus point of the new Oculus Quest 2 is that it can also be used to play fully-fledged PC VR titles. If you rent the Oculus Quest 2, you can connect the device to a sufficiently powerful gaming laptop using the included Oculus Link high-speed fiber optic cable. The VR game is executed on the PC using the computer’s processing power and streamed to the Oculus Quest 2.

This means you can also play games from the Steam library, for example, with the Oculus Quest 2. If you play games from the Oculus Store on the Oculus Quest 2, you can even stream them to a TV or device in real time using the Oculus app. This way, outside viewers can also participate in the VR spectacle in the virtual world.
